(H4) Description Title

The mission of the Center for the Investigation of Environmental Hazards is to protect people from adverse health effects of exposure to environmental hazards.

Our faculty lead targeted research projects to identify chemicals in the environment that contribute to chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes, obesity, and an elevated risk of cardiovascular disease that affect an increasing number of people worldwide.

We also document the health and economic costs of failing to implement policies that reduce exposures to harmful environmental chemicals and prevent related disease.

Our faculty have led environmental research initiatives around the world, and we have advised local, national, and international leaders on how to effectively shield people from harm. We believe that a coordinated program of clinical care, research, and policy is needed to achieve this goal.
